Administrative Assistant

Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant provides direct support to the Executive Director of IT and Planning Services and the Michigan Virtual Learning Research Institute team. These responsibilities include administrative support of various levels, coordinating internal and external activities, scheduling meetings and conference calls, including catering needs, creating purchase orders, operating the company telephone system, greeting clients, vendors and customers, day-to-day department communications and team updates, department travel, creating original correspondence and documents, managing stipends and fellow contracts, department mailings, working closely with Project Management to assist with scheduling needs, and assisting MVLRI with setting up webinars.

Instructional Technology Support Specialist

Position Summary
The Learning Applications Specialist is responsible for executing the successful day-to-day operation, maintenance and support of the learning applications used by MVU. These efforts will include working collaboratively with appropriate stakeholders in identifying the educational needs of programs or services and leveraging the available tools, processes and procedures to successfully support those needs. Other key duties include providing Tier 2 customer care support and providing general support and coordination of projects, events and meetings.

Lead Instructor - Career & Technical Education

Position Summary
The Lead Instructor - Career & Technical Education plans, organizes and delivers an instructional program that has already been developed and aligned to state standards. Feedback is provided by the instructor in an online environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This position requires daytime work Monday-Friday (8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) with students from multiple Michigan schools. The instructor will be required to provide academic support to approximately 350 students per year enrolled in a variety of courses at varying levels of complexity. Additional 500 hours of time will be devoted to non-instructional duties. This is a 12-month instructional position. Full-time instructors will be assigned to work from home but will also be required to attend meetings at the Lansing office on a regular basis ranging from one to five days per month.

Part-Time Instructors

Position Summary
Part-time instructors plan, organize and deliver an instructional program that has already been developed and aligned to state standards. Feedback is provided by the instructor in an online environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The instructor will be working in a part-time status and is required to provide academic support to approximately 70 students maximum for semester, 57 students maximum for trimester and 47 students maximum for summer in a variety of courses at varying levels of complexity. This position requires daily work (Monday-Friday) with established office hours defined for students from multiple Michigan schools. This position requires logging into class daily, response to students, mentors, parents or stakeholders within 24 hours, and scoring of student assignments within 96 hours of submission Monday through Friday. The successful candidate will be required to deliver instruction in a specific content area using MVS course materials. This position is based on a term-by-term appointment with no more than 19 hours per week. Part-time instructors will be assigned to work from home but will also be required to attend several professional development sessions throughout the year to include: Pre-MACUL (March) and Collaboration of the Minds (August), as a minimum.

Certification
All MVU instructors must be highly qualified and Michigan certified in their content areas.
