Learning Applications Specialist

Position Summary
The Learning Applications Specialist is responsible for executing the successful day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of the learning applications used by MVU. These efforts will include working collaboratively with appropriate stakeholders in identifying the educational needs of programs or services and leveraging the available tools, processes, and procedures to successfully support those needs. Other key duties include providing Tier 2 customer care support, and providing general support and coordination of projects, events and meetings.

Director of Technology Integrations

Position Summary
The Director of Technology Integrations is responsible for the overall leadership and guidance of the Integrations Services team towards the integration of systems and solutions to create a unified platform of tools supporting the operations of MVU. These efforts will include working collaboratively with appropriate stakeholders in identifying business needs and aligning technology tools, processes, and procedures to successfully support those needs. This position will lead significant continuous improvement efforts to enable data-driven decision making across the organization. This will include managing every step of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) while creating and distributing both technical and end user documentation and reports.

Graphic & Web Designer

Position Summary
The Graphic & Web Designer leads our graphic design and website design work. A working knowledge of inbound marketing is required. Graphic design responsibilities include creating marketing materials in both web and print formats from concept to production. Marketing collateral includes but is not limited to: promotional flyers, PowerPoint templates, trade show displays, direct mail materials and digital marketing assets. Website design responsibilities include maintaining and improving an effective, visually appealing, fully responsive enterprise-level website on the WordPress platform. The Graphic and Web Designer will also help design and implement new website features and functionality, guiding the website’s architecture, ensuring high performance and accessibility, and managing front-end administration of the CMS. The ideal candidate is self-motivated with an enthusiasm for marketing and working as part of a dynamic, collaborative and creative team.

Outreach Coordinator – Mentors

Position Summary
The Outreach Coordinator – Mentors provides and coordinates wrap-around services to schools and MVS mentors in the field and virtually. This will involve regular two-way interaction with the Professional Learning Services team, with MVS mentors, with the Customer Care team and the Student Learning Services team to ensure quality support of students in online learning so they have an ‘awesome experience’ and greater success with our courses. There will be opportunities for communication with schools and at professional conferences to share best practices from the field in mentoring online students.

Outreach Coordinator – Special Populations

Position Summary
The Outreach Coordinator – Special Populations provides and coordinates wrap-around services to schools both virtually and, on occasion, face-to-face. This will involve regular two-way interaction with special education teachers, Michigan Virtual School mentors, Student Learning Services team members, administrators and MVS instructors. The position will primarily coordinate services needed to support students with special needs, school districts that have students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), seat-time waivers, 504 Plans, credit recovery needs and middle school course needs.

Programming Specialist

Position Summary
The Programming Specialist works under the supervision of the Director of Technology Integrations to manage and create solutions to integrate disparate systems. A variety of technologies and techniques will be used including SOAP/REST API’s, Microsoft SQL Server and Visual Studios ASP.NET C#. The programming specialist will also assist in SharePoint Administration and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). This position works collaboratively with staff in the Infrastructure, Project Management and Technical Documentation departments.

iEducator Instructor

Position Summary
MVU iEducators plan, organize and deliver an instructional program that has already been developed and aligned to state standards. Feedback is provided by the instructor in an online environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This position requires daytime work Monday-Friday (8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) with students from multiple Michigan schools. The successful candidate will be required to deliver instruction in specific content areas (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, World Language or Electives) using MVS course materials already created by our Instructional Design Team. The instructor will be required to provide academic support to students enrolled in a variety of courses at varying levels of complexity. This is a two-year commitment with courses taught during the fall, spring and summer terms. Must successfully complete the iEducator Onboarding Course. Instructors will be assigned to work from home but will also be required to attend minimal meetings at the Lansing office, approximately five times per year.

Part-Time Instructors

Position Summary
Part-time instructors plan, organize and deliver an instructional program that has already been developed and aligned to state standards. Feedback is provided by the instructor in an online environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. The instructor will be working in a part-time status and is required to provide academic support to approximately 70 students maximum for semester, 57 students maximum for trimester and 47 students maximum for summer in a variety of courses at varying levels of complexity. This position requires daily work (Monday-Friday) with established office hours defined for students from multiple Michigan schools. This position requires logging into class daily, response to students, mentors, parents or stakeholders within 24 hours, and scoring of student assignments within 96 hours of submission Monday through Friday. The successful candidate will be required to deliver instruction in a specific content area using MVS course materials. This position is based on a term-by-term appointment with no more than 19 hours per week. Part-time instructors will be assigned to work from home but will also be required to attend several professional development sessions throughout the year to include: Pre-MACUL (March) and Collaboration of the Minds (August), as a minimum.

Certification
All MVU instructors must be highly qualified and Michigan certified in their content areas.
