Path to the ACE Endorsement

  1. Student verifies the eligibility requirements on the ACE web site and selects a home university for ACE
  2. Student contacts advisor at Home University to develop an ACE Plan of Study
  3. The Home University provides acceptance into ACE via the Plan of Study and informs the student and the ACE enrollment manager at MVU
  4. Student submits ACE non-degree application and registers for courses online through this Web site
  5. Student continues to register for courses and complete their 18 credits of ACE courses. See Course Schedule
  6. At the beginning of the last semester of coursework, the student registers to take the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification  in Autism
  7. At the beginning of the last semester of coursework, the student completes the ACE Practicum Application  and gets approval from the Home University to begin the practicum
  8. Student completes the AI endorsement application to the state--submit all transcripts, ACE Plan of Study, and teaching certificate to the Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services (OSE/EIS)
  9. OSE/EIS reviews all submitted documents
  10. If approved, OSE/EIS recommends to the Office of Professional Preparation and Certification Services (OPP) that an endorsement be granted
  11. OPP grants the successful student an endorsement in autism
