| Instructional Designer |
|
Job Summary
Michigan Virtual University is seeking an Instructional Designer for a full-time position at the Lansing office. MVU delivers online and hybrid K-12 courses to schools throughout Michigan, primarily at the high school level, and professional development for teachers throughout the state. Blackboard®, Moodle and Meridian KSI™ are the platforms used for most course delivery. Courses are developed through a team process that includes an overall project lead/manager for each course, a course content specialist/subject matter expert, an instructional designer, and other team members as needed. The instructional designer will report to the Instructional Design and Systems Manager at MVU, within the product development group.
The role of the instructional designer is to provide guidance and assistance to team members in the course development process (analysis, design, production, implementation and evaluation) in a manner that promotes sound instructional design principles. The instructional designer will use production tools such as Dreamweaver, Audacity, Articulate™, Lectora™, and Adobe Flash™ for course elements that team members cannot develop, integrate all course elements including those developed at MVU and those licensed from others, and provide input about overall, systematic course development strategy on an on-going basis.
MVU offers an excellent benefits package, including 403b, health, dental and vision, AD&D, STD & LTD, paid holiday and paid vacation.
Applying for the Position
Interested candidates are requested to send a cover letter, resume and copy of college transcripts, and provide the names and contact information for three professional references (not letters of recommendation) to MVU. Send the complete packet of information — you will not be considered for the position unless you provide all documents requested — to Donna Abel by fax (517-336-7787), by email (please insert your name and “Instructional Designer” in the subject line) to dabel@mivu.org, or by mail: MVU c/o Donna Abel, 3101 Technology Blvd., Suite G, Lansing, MI 48910.
